Highlights of our August Inventory

There are no complications with this Holey Dollar. What you see is what you get … a fabulous example of the nation’s very first coin. Note the vertical counter stamps: a trait that is rarely seen.

The 1921 Kookaburra Halfpenny is one of the Commonwealth's great coin rarities. It is extremely rare and this example is superb for quality.

This 1887 Sovereign features the Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria and the Shield reverse. And that makes it a world-class rarity. Presented in the ultimate Uncirculated quality.

A 1916 Presentation Set in its original case of issue is profoundly important. Sold by Monetarium Singapore, April 2008, with accompanying catalogue attesting to its provenance.

Coinworks, Australia's leading rare coin dealer

Coinworks is the place to go when you want to sell or buy rare coins. As the leading rare Australian coin dealer, Coinworks has a range of rare coins you simply won’t find elsewhere.

While other dealers can read books about top Australian rare coins, we have actually handled them.

The Coinworks brand has been established by knowing where the rarest Australian coins are held. The Coinworks brand is also about quality: quality at all dollar levels. And all Coinworks rare coins are backed by a guarantee of authenticity. And guarantee of clear title.

The guarantee of authenticity and the work we put into establishing provenance has earned us the trust of the community. This has been a factor in positioning us as the leading rare coin dealer in Australia.

A treasure trove for serious coin collectors

We often talk about the ‘opportunity’ to buy rare Australian coins. And the word opportunity is used here quite deliberately because rare coins are not popping up every day. Or every week.

Many of the pieces that Coinworks sell are unique, or may be known by only two or three examples so they may come to market only once in a decade. It also is an established fact that great coins tend to be held long term in collections and are not readily available.

Coinworks pays considerable attention to the quality of the rare coins we sell and we encourage buyers to do similarly. Once quality is invoked into a selection process, a buyer may have to wait a considerable length of time to acquire that special piece.

That’s what defines us from other collectable Australian coin dealers. The ability to access the very finest and the rarest.

Also an Excellent Place to Sell

Assessing an Australian rare coin’s value is much more than just opening a catalogue. It requires experience and knowledge not only of the product but of the workings of the market.

It’s about knowing the piece and its rarity. It is also about knowing the demand.

So if you are considering selling your rare Australian coins, we will give you a fair appraisal of your rare Australian coin’s value.

The knowledgeable experts at Coinworks are always keen to buy rare coins from those wishing to sell.

Subject to stock levels we may decide to make an outright purchase of your rare Australian coins. A seller also has the option of placing with Coinworks on sale by consignment. This gives sellers access to the powerful resources and market reach of Coinworks to help them connect easily with serious buyers. While the process may be a little slower it can potentially provide a higher margin.

Our recent sales, as shown on our web site, speaks volumes of our sales record.

Other Services Provided by Coinworks

In addition to buying and selling rare coins, we also provide coin storage (on those rare coins acquired from Coinworks) at our secure safety deposit facilities. All coins stored by us are fully insured through Lloyds of London.

We also provide valuations and appraisal of coins so you can assess the performance of your investment of Australian rare coins.

If you are an already established rare coin collector and have an interest that is not represented on our web site, then please talk to us. Not every piece that we acquire is featured on our web site but are offered directly to clients who have provided us with their ‘wish list’.

Browse currently available rare Australian coins online and please contact us on +61 3 9642 3133 or enquire online.
