The unique 1824 Bank of New South Wales Twenty Spanish Dollars generates a media frenzy.

Australia first went decimal in 1822 when Sir Thomas Brisbane was Governor of the penal colony of New South Wales. And it's a fact that goes largely unnoticed.

The point was certainly brought home at the recent Brisbane Money Expo when Coinworks displayed an 1824 Bank of New South Wales Twenty Spanish Dollars.

Belinda Downie, Coinworks Managing Director, appears on Channel 7 and Channel 10 News and explains the historical significance of the note and   talks about Australia's first bout of decimal currency in the 1820s.
